No Shave November raises awareness of early-onset colorectal cancer and the funds raised go toward colorectal cancer research, advocacy, and awareness through Fight Colorectal Cancer @FightCRC Leah talks with Ben White, a Fight CRC advocate, survivor, and health policy researcher, about how to take part and what the funds support.
Ben also covers more of Fight CRC’s work including Call on Congress, the Global Early Onset Colorectal Cancer Think Tank, United in Blue, and the push for research funding and better insurance coverage across the screening continuum.
Ben’s own story is why he does this work. He was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer at 26 years old, after months of escalating GI symptoms and repeated dismissal as “too young.” His career pivoted from Navy pilot to health policy and he talks about how his diagnosis brought him into the advocacy space.
